English subtitles for Japanese YouTube videos
YouTube's auto-captions and auto-translate miss a lot of Japanese content — and break entirely on videos with captions disabled. mimisubs doesn't rely on YouTube's captions at all: it listens to the actual audio and overlays its own English translation in real time.
- Works even when a video has no captions or disabled captions.
- Independent of YouTube auto-translate — translates the audio itself.
- Handles vlogs, news, music talk, gaming, and un-subbed clips.

Common questions
How is this different from YouTube's own auto-translate?
YouTube auto-translate only works when the creator (or YouTube's ASR) already produced captions, and it's often unavailable or disabled. mimisubs transcribes the raw audio itself, so it works on videos where YouTube shows no caption option at all.

mimisubs runs on any browser tab with audio — see how it works.
